Rewarding the gas and the brakes.

04-20-2026

Process for the sake of process is terrible.

However, I believe a good engineering culture rewards questions as much as answers.

In a time where every engineer can build anything, it is important that a company fosters an environment where teams stop to ask what to build.

I work with engineers who spike multiple features within a day. I work with engineers who question assumptions and think through every possible tradeoff before committing to a solution.

I generally prefer spiking something and iterating on it, but I think there is value in the engineer who takes the time to thoroughly consider all options.

Measure twice, cut once.
